Art Gallery of Western Australia

The Art Gallery of Western Australia, situated at James Street Mall, Perth Cultural Centre, Perth, Western Australia, is a must-see for any history buff. However, even if you’re not planning on attending an exhibit, it’s worth checking out this historical museum with its impressive collection that includes works from all around the world and inside their own backyard.

Western Australia’s Art Gallery is a one-minute walk from the nearest train station. The museum houses an incredible collection from 1829 to the present day, emphasizing works created in or influenced by Australia & Indian Ocean Rim countries.

This art gallery is home to an extensive collection of traditional and contemporary Indigenous art, much like the ones you can find at any other museum. However, what sets this one apart are works by some very famous artists, such as Hans Heysen and Frederick McCubbin, whose work represents authenticity on behalf of them being locally sourced talent.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia is currently in the process of undergoing a renovation project that will create an open-air sculpture walk, showcasing some amazing artwork.

The Art Gallery of Western Australia has ambitious plans for its new internal gallery space, which includes an opportunity to host exhibitions and events. The two outdoor spaces are located on either side with beautiful views that will inspire you every day.

Visitors to the Art Gallery will be pleased that their admission is free, but visitors are asked for a donation upon entry.

The State Art Collection is one of the greatest public art collections in Western Australia. The first work was purchased back when it wasn’t even called that, but now with more than 18 thousand pieces collected over time into this amazing asset for all to enjoy, there are no limits on what you’ll find at AGWA. One thing I love about my state’s treasures is that it has an abundance of opportunities, both old and new: classics alongside modern-day creators making their mark right here.

The AGWA Rooftop is not only a place to enjoy the view but also features an open-air sculpture walk with works from their State Art Collection and a new internal gallery space for events or exhibitions. There are two outdoor multipurpose spaces that offer brilliant city views as well.

You can’t beat a rooftop view of Perth. So, head to AGWA for some great food and drinks with an immersive experience that’ll have you feeling like you’re in the heart of the city.
