GLASS REINFORCED POLYESTER ENCLOSURES
DESCRIPTION
GRP stands for Glass Reinforced Polyester and is a lightweight, extremely strong and robust material. Listed below are some of the more useful features of GRP to give you a clearer picture of how amazing this product can be for the electrical industry.
- Durability – GRP has very high resistance to UV (25+yrs), chemicals, acids, salt air and other corrosive atmospheres. GRP will not rust – making lifetime costs very low.
- Strength – GRP has a very high strength to weight ratio and kg for kg can be stronger than steel. GRP has very high impact and flexural strength compared to many common plastics.
- Ease of use – Similar to plastic , GRP can be manufactured, tooled, cut, shaped or painted much more easily than steel alternatives. Work such as punching or cutting holes can be completed with common hand tools where workshop based machinery is needed for similar tasks with steel and stainless steel product. GRP is also lightweight and OHS friendly compared to working with sharp metal edges etc.
